Environmental

This photograph was taken in California and it demonstrates how the girl is simply taking in the nature that is around her.  I like that even though she is the focal point in the photo the details in the rocks and in the hills in the background are still present. I slightly lightened up the sky so it would not be as bright, but kept it a brighter color because it made her stand out more.

Emily- Studio Portrait

This is a picture of Emily. My intent with the photograph was to show her happy personality. I choose to have the picture be solely of her face to make her be the only subject. I created a high contrast within the photograph and also darkened her skin so it would stand out.

IB Portraits

This photograph of Brittany was created for the IB art students. Since the photographs were made black and white it shows the details of the outfit and looks more like an old fashion photo. I had her smiling because she was a very bubbly girl and it presented her personality.

These last two photographs are of Amanda and since she wore a white t-shirt it looks very calming and simplistic. Amanda was also a very bubbly girl and having her smiling and being relaxed showed more of her personality.

Portraits

For this photograph I used loop lighting to create a slight shadow on our right (her left) of her face. In this portrait I wanted to portray happiness in a day poor weather. I blurred the background in order for her to stand out more. Having the umbrella placed behind her it accents her face.
This photograph also uses loop lighting to light up the left (her right) side of her face. In this photograph I worked to portray peacefulness and beauty. I kept some of the side of the building in the photograph in order to create depth within the photograph.

Rembrandt lighting - I had her sit on a pier and used the snow as a natural reflector to shine light on the left side of her face (the right side of the photo).

Split lighting- I had him sit on a fence and look to the side so the sun would light up the side of his face to create split lighting.

Loop lighting- Since the shadows are not connected it creates loop lighting since she was mostly faced towards the sun but then slightly turned her face to away from the sun.

Five Photos Series

I choose to do a series of red photos because the color red can show many different emotions. Love and anger are the most well known. Red is one of my favorite colors because it is very vibrant and fun color. The five photos presented in my blog were presented to show the different emotions. The first photo demonstrates the emotion of carefree and fun since it is a picture of a hand print. The second photo of the shoes shows the beauty of a simple accessory. The photo of the rose shows the love and beauty of nature. I wanted to present a girl holding the flower because it demonstrates caring and beauty. The fourth photo of the girl shows the happiness and vibrance of the color red. Finally the photo of the door also demonstrates how it stands out from the rest of the buildings and it bright and happy.
